 Against the backdrop of the beautiful English Lake District, it is possible to sample national hunt racing in its most original format.

With its party crowds and funfair, Cartmel rekindles the social gathering tradition of the original steeple to steeple chases.  Cartmel only stages National Hunt (jump) racing. There are nine fixtures in the Cartmel racing calendar, commencing on the Whit Holiday weekend in May** and running through the August Bank Holiday weekend. Cartmel’s most valuable race, the Cumbria Crystal Cup is staged during the July meeting.

The Lakeside & Haverthwaite Railway is a family run business in the heart of the Lake District.

Steam engines haul traditional 1950’s carriages through the countryside scenery of the Leven Valley, transporting passengers to Lakeside Station, where connections are available with Windermere Lake Cruises.

. At the Victorian Station you will find… a Tea Room, Gift Shop, Engine Shed, Woodland Playground and Walk. The station welcomes dogs and they can even ride the train for FREE!

In the company of wolves. Join the wolf pack, on a magical and informative “Wolf Experience”. Walking foot by paw, on a truly inspirational journey in the Lake District countryside. On the walk the expert handler will guide you through all aspects of evolution, physiology, social structure, communication and conservation of the Wolf.   You will be welcomed as a member of the pack, and learn how to howl, and if you’d like to, you are welcome to howl with us!
